As torrents in summer,	Zoals beekjes in de zomer,
half dried in their channels	half verdroogd in hun beddingen,
suddenly rise,	plotseling aanzwellen,
tho'the sky is still cloudless,	hoewel de lucht nog steeds wolkenloos is,
for rain has been falling,	want er is regen gevallen,
far off at their fountains;	ver weg, bij hun oorsprong;
So hearts that are fainting,	Zo raken wegkwijnende harten,
grow full to o'erflowing,	tot barstens toe gevuld,
and they that behold it marvel,	en zij die het zien verwonderen zich,
and know not,	en weten niet,
that God at their fountains,	dat God aan hun oorsprong,
far off, has been raining.	ver weg, voor regen heeft gezorgd.
